Instead of concentrating on low impact shots at enemies in cover, render them immobile or stop them from doing anything that will harm allies through Overwatch. Any downed enemy can be executed in Gears Tactics . And this doesn't just give an appealing animation, it also rewards every soldier in the team with one AP ( Except for the executor). Also, grounding several enemies allows a player to bind executions, giving more bonus action points. Now, although there is a reward for killings, they are usually risky for the individual carrying them out as it exposes them. So be cauti


The Railgun needs to be charged before firing and hence it's important to fill the gun with enough ammo beforehand. The gun doesn't have a feature to use a long-range scope and can not be charged at multiple targets at the same time, therefore the best use of the gun is for killing enemies in a short-range. With this short gun on hand, the player can beat the enemies with its fast killing sp


Overall, it leaves the campaign feeling about two-thirds baked. Adding in more mission variety (or even trimming the side mission fat) to minimize repetition would undoubtedly solve attention-loss issues towards the ending stre


The problems arise when you get to the late-game, as these side missions are often required to proceed to the next story mission. It can be frustrating to be forced to go complete two of these right when the story is heating


In the Barracks is where everything happens in between different missions. So get familiar with the place. Spend skills points, swap out gear, go through cases on the battlefield, inspect characters, customize names and appearance or recruit new soldiers before embarking on another miss


The weakest part of Tactics is its mid-to-late-game objective variety. I’m looking at you, accursed side missions. Like many strategy multiplayer AA games before it, Tactics ends up relying on the same few formulas for a good bit of its meat. This time around, you’ll be getting a whole lotta "hold these supply points," "rescue these two POWs," or "collect these loot crates before you get nemacyst'd in the face." Rinse and rep


Though the standard three action points each character has available can feel quite limiting, it is helpful to remember that there are several ways to get more out of each point. One way to do this is to take full advantage of cover. In Gears Tactics , ending a movement action in cover will reduce the point cost, meaning that it is wise to plan moves from defensive point to defensive point to make the most of movement. Additionally, take full advantage of the execution mechanic: finishing off a downed enemy will award the executioner's squad an action point, adding some much-needed versatility. Unfortunately, this is where Tactics becomes a bit dull. The recruiting system and side characters are mostly forgettable. The tactical variety isn’t the largest either, leaving the player with a handful of options. It isn’t dry by any means, yet after the first 15 hours of the roughly 25-hour campaign, you essentially get the gist of it.
