On 19 October, Acting Corporal David Barnsdale, vapezubehor aged 24, from 33 Engineer Regiment, died in an explosion east of Gereshk, Helmand Province. Corporal Liam Elms, aged 26, from Zulu Company, forty five Commando, Royal Marines was killed by an explosion whereas taking part in an area area patrol alongside Afghan National Army troops on the afternoon of 31 December 2008 within the Sangin district, Helmand province, Afghanistan.
