Despite being in early-access, PUBG is already an overwhelming success. It regularly dethrones League of Legends as the most streamed game on Twitch. It will be seeing a console release on the Xbox One by year’s end, and it seems to have cemented the battle royale arena as a fully-fledged genre in gaming. Major studios are already taking notice, with games like Grand Theft Auto Online and Fortnite adding battle royale game modes of their own. From starting as a mod-of-a-mod to serving as the basis for several major games, the journey this genre has undertaken thus far is already quite incredible. This is really just the beginning though! Who else out there is looking forward to seeing where these games go next?
Ian Huston: My esports career started in Vainglory , a mobile MOBA, so I always like to check in when there are new updates and to keep up with the community. From there, I really enjoy both Hearthstone and Overwatch . As many others like me in the industry have found, the more I work in esports, the less I have time to play. There is no difference between multiplayer and single player for work and entertainment. Rather, it’s just a healthy divide by a person to denote what is work and play for them persona
Karnage: Cloud9 is globally recognized as one of the best if not the best esports organizations to be a part of. This goes for their employees/staff, pro esports players, and the stream team. Cloud9 recently won the esports organization award of the year and has won many world championship tournaments from Rocket League to CSGO ., etc. Too many to l
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds ' crate and key system isn't supposed to come until the game launches in full but of course, money talks so it's coming NOW. According to Greene and the devs, it's for testing but they're selling items already for real cash so take that for what you will. The goal is to provide a "healthy economy" after launch to keep monetizing the player base for future updates and content additions (like the two in-development maps). All the items are cosmetic only and should not affect gameplay. Still, microtransactions during early access are tough to swallow, especially for a game that's selling so well right now. The other concern is that because the in-game cosmetics count as Steam inventory items, players can sell for real-world cash which can lead to skin gambling/market issues like CS:GO had to deal with recen
Added new weapon Mk14 EBR (Enhanced Battle Rifle). Mk14 EBR is a Designated Marksman Rifle that can only be obtained from Carepackages. This weapon is chambered for 7.62mm and sniper rifle attachments
The Mk14 is a semi-auto sniper rifle weapon comparable to the Slg Game Tips's current SKS, as another crate-only weapon however, the chances of getting it (and other care package items) is becoming increasingly rare. With the previous rifle add-on (the Groza), soon the game will have to cycle some of these weapons into the regular loot ta
The game is far from finished and has a heap of kinks that won't go unnoticed by players. While not every little bug is worth noting, here are some key things PUBG still needs to add or fix before it leaves Early Acc
Now onto the new crates themselves. Here is a look (up top and below) at some of the items available in the 2 free-to-open crates. There's an additional one only available during Gamescom that requires the purchase of a $2.50 key to o
Red Dead Redemption 2 arrived earlier this year to a sea of praise, with gamers and critics falling in love with its deep open world and cast of characters. However, things weren't entirely smooth sailing for Take-Two subsidiary Rockstar Games, particularly after Rockstar's Dan Houser revealed that certain members of the team had been working 100-hour weeks to ensure Red Dead Redemption 2 saw complet
Ian Huston: With Cloud9 on the forefront of esports as an industry leader, I strive to use my association and platform with them to be the best ambassador that I can be. My main goals in doing this are looking to empower those around me with whom I work to be the best that they can be and to enlighten people who are not in esports as to what is truly happening as things move forw
Warner Bros. Interactive was perhaps feeling a little relieved that EA caught the most flack for loot boxes in 2017. After all, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War was also rife with loot boxes and subpar microtransactions, and although the game certainly was criticized for it, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 was the title that represented the business model in the eyes of m
In 2012, a modder by the name of Dean Hall released a mod for ARMA 2 called "DayZ." Its extreme survival focus being the result of Hall’s desire to create an experience that would cause its players to seriously consider their surroundings and survival needs, rather than just blindly reacting. As it turned out, many gamers out there were hungry for this new kind of gaming experience, and DayZ released to massive praise and popularity. So like ARMA 2 before it, DayZ also attracted a healthy modding community, and it wasn’t long before some members of that community starting trying to adapt the game’s survival elements for pvp-focused experiences. It wasn’t until a year later though, in 2013, that PlayerUnknown would make his debut and deliver one of the most influential DayZ mods to date, "PlayerUnknown’s Battle Royale."
