Editorial

We find Westerlo's strategy both savvy and forward-thinking. By integrating Ejike and expressing interest in additional Nigerian prospects, they acknowledge the depth of talent emerging from Nigerian academies. This shows anticipation rather than reaction building long-term connections, not just one-off transfers.

Their approach could reshape how Belgian clubs engage with the Nigerian market: thoughtfully, proactively, and consistently. If they continue creating pathways for talented youngsters, the club not only benefits but so too does Nigerian football producing more globally-visible career opportunities.

We believe this model can become a blueprint smart recruitment, investment in development, and respect for footballing culture. Together, it strengthens both clubs and careers
